THE BUSINESS ACUMEN SIMULATION

This self-paced digital business acumen simulation is designed to provide managers and key employees with an opportunity to develop enhanced financial literacy and overall business acumen through practice.

ZODIAK VIRTUAL

Business acumen goes beyond explaining the line items on a P&L and challenges people to think like a business owner.

Organizations that prioritize business acumen provide a clearer vision and an overall context within which employees can work, while creating an environment that is more likely to break down internal barriers

There is less waste and less ambivalence. There is increased innovation. Employees are more engaged, they understand their role and its impact on business results, and they are more likely to believe that their efforts really matter. They are more likely to think like a business owner.

WHAT MAKES A BUSINESS ACUMEN SIMULATION POWERFUL?

WHAT MAKES A BUSINESS ACUMEN SIMULATION POWERFUL?

Zodiak is a virtual experience that preserves the discovery, team-building, and interactivity of the in-person classroom and translates it to a virtual platform, led by seasoned facilitators who are business acumen experts, to create an experience that’s robust in content and rewarding for your learners.

Learners are immersed in a storyline that introduces business acumen concepts in a hands-on, visual setting (tailored to multiple learning styles). As small teams of learners become new owners of the struggling Zodiak company, they take out loans, attract investors, purchase equipment and materials, invest in product development and innovation, and deliver products and services to customers.

By understanding the big picture of how business works and how organizations make money, participants begin to see how their actions affect their organization’s bottom line. Relevant company information is woven throughout the Zodiak experience, resulting in a rich experience that leaves participants accountable and motivated to make a positive impact when they return to their jobs.

ABOUT THE TRAINING

  • Zodiak can be completed in two, two-hour modules on the same day or on two consecutive days.
  • Recommended class size is up to 16 participants (Note: larger or smaller class sizes can be accomodated).
  • Sessions will be hosted via Adobe Connect, using interactive elements and breakout rooms to facilitate team activities.
  • Pre-work and post-work modules add to the learning experience, ensuring your learners arrive prepared and continue their learning journey afterwards, resulting in bottom-line results for your organization.
  • Customized activities can be designed and incorporated into your virtual Zodiak experience, lending a deeper connection between the business concepts of the program and your organization.

AFTER COMPLETING ZODIAK, PARTICIPANTS WILL:

  • Leverage their business acumen knowledge in their interactions with teams, stakeholders and customers
  • Use relevant financial data and analysis in day-to-day decision making
  • Demonstrate personal understanding of company terms, concepts, and goals
  • Align personal and department goals with the organization’s financial objectives and strategies
  • Use financial terminology and concepts in discussions with others, including team members
  • Ask informed questions about financial and strategic issues when taking action on the job
  • Take personal action to impact targeted financial, strategic, operational, and/or customer objectives

ZODIAK IS GREAT FOR:

MANAGERS — Business acumen is a critical competency for managers. It links directly to business success and the skill to align departmental and personal actions to financial and strategic objectives.

EMPLOYEES — Every day, the actions, decisions, and attitudes of employees impact organizational success. With increased business acumen and an attitude of engagement, they’ll understand how they fit into the big picture and contribute to organizational success.

SALES PROFESSIONALS — To build the foundation for long-term customer partnerships, sales professionals must effectively speak the language of their customers’ businesses. Honed business acumen increases skills – and results – in consultative selling.

EMBARK VIRTUAL

Too often new employee onboarding consists of checklists, lectures, outdated videos, and the new employee doubting whether they made the right choice. While administrative tasks and checklists have their place in onboarding, the key to early employee retention and productivity is creating a deeper sense of connection to the organization.

  • They bring their own unique experiences and points of view, enriching team dialogue with diverse thoughts and perspectives.
  • Friendly competition among teams keeps the energy high, and a facilitator provides context and leads large group discussions.

As A Customized Game, Embark Can Teach New Hires:

  • Your organization’s missions and values
  • How your organization makes money
  • Who your customers are and how you work with them
  • How your organization is structured

  • And more!

Other Applications

As an adaptable framework, Embark can be used for a variety of other purposes as well, such as communicating a strategy (strategic alignment), checking knowledge and application of previously communicated information (team-based role-play or practicing articulation, such as a value proposition in sales or customer service).

RIGHT TURNS VIRTUAL

Organizational change is guaranteed. Success is not. Strategic and employee alignment are imperative. But how does an organization ensure its employees gracefully adapt to change?

Fear of the unknown leads to lower productivity, higher workplace confusion and costly staff turnover. Managers who can lead through uncertain times are essential.

What Makes a Change Management Simulation Powerful?

What Makes a Change Management Simulation Powerful?

Right Turns: Change in Action® is a dynamic virtual learning session that builds employee confidence and commitment and the skills of managers.

It’s a powerful learning experience focused on change management, guiding employees and managers to explore the realities of change and the path to future success.

Whether participants are dealing with organizational change or leading it, this fast-paced discovery learning experience builds understanding, alignment and commitment for any corporate strategy.

ABOUT THE TRAINING

  • Working together in small teams using our virtual game-based framework, participants work together in small teams to explore and discuss key concepts — external forces that cause change, the impact of change, drivers of success, how emotions and behaviors help or hinder progress and more.
  • Organization-specific discussions and exercises bring the lessons home by allowing participants to explore organizational changes in their own company or department and develop insights to take back to their jobs.
  • Managers delve deeper into the session and explore their role as change leaders — their responsibilities, their necessary skills, how to apply critical thinking and how to deal with their own reactions to organizational change.

After experiencing Right Turns, participants learn what drives change, how it progresses, where they fit, and how emotions help or hinder a change initiative.

They learn to make the “right” (correct) turns as they navigate toward the future. Specifically, they discover how to:

  • Identify the key phases and milestones that accompany successful organizational changes
  • Demonstrate understanding of key changes occurring in their own organizations and departments
  • Implement strategies for handling several common emotional and behavioral responses to change
  • Accelerate the implementation of change by removing barriers to success
  • Use appropriate “Critical Thinking Guides” to analyze their personal change issues and to plan ways to be more effective during times of change
